Late News for the Clann

Is late news too late to be news at all ? Anyway here goes…

Youth Skills sessions restart on Saturday 28 September at the youth club on Lake Street ( note change of venue ) Lasting about one hour, they will be ideal for new members. In addition Noel hopes to run a series of indoor workshop for our youth riders on Monday evenings in November. If you know someone interested in joining the club, these sessions will be ideal for them…parents are welcome to come along and see what goes on…

The Saturday road spins will continue to leave the clubrooms at 9.30 AM for those not doing the skills sessions.

Our charity run on 8 September has raised well over £3000…Gerard says there are just a couple of donations still in the pipeline and we will have a final figure for you in the next week or so.

Congratulations to our riders who did so well at Irish  Championships over the last month or so…

Declan Mulhoulland (once again ) won the Under 16 title at Enniscorthy, Aaron Heaney took the bronze in the unde 12’s and Liam Wilson was just outside the medals in the under 14’s. In the Irish Veterans TT Championhip, John Heverin took silver.

Our AGM this year is set for Sunday 17 November at 3 PM.

PIPS Charity Cycle

The fourth annual charity cycle in aid of PIPS, the suicide charity is set for Sunday 8 September next. Over the last three years, hundreds of people, many of them not regular cyclists have taken part, raising close to ten thousand pounds for the charity. Every pound donated goes to PIPS.

Two routes have been planned. The long one takes the cyclists to the Crumlin and Glenavy area, while the shorter run more favoured by family groups and the not so regular riders is around Aghalee and Gawleys Gate. Refreshments for all will be provided at Clann Eireann on completion of the cycle, thanks to support from the Golden Crust Bakery and the Classic Mineral Water Company.

Registration will be at Clann Eireann Youth Club from 9.30 am, with the first group going of just after 10.00. Intending participants are asked to seek sponsorship themselves, and the organising club are asking for at least £15 from each, but nobody will be turned away.

Even if you cannot do the bike ride, the club are in need of volunteers to help with marshalling. If you can help, or have an enquiry, please phone Maurice at 38323658
